Head of the BMKG Bandung Geophysics Station, Teguh Rahayu, said that the results of the BMKG analysis showed that the epicenter of the earthquake was located at coordinates 7.19 degrees South Latitude (LS) and 107.63 degrees East Longitude (BT), or precisely located in Bandung Regency at a depth of 5 kilometers.

“By paying attention to the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a shallow type of earthquake due to active fault activity in the local area,” said Teguh in a statement received in Bandung.
Based on public reports, he said, the earthquake was felt in the Kertasari and Banjaran areas, Bandung Regency with an intensity scale of II to III MMI (Vibrations felt by several people, light objects hanging swaying, felt real in the house, vibrations felt as if a truck was passing by).
However, until now there have been no reports of damage to buildings as a result of the earthquake.
As of 10:23 WIB, he continued, BMKG monitoring results showed that there had been no aftershocks.
The public, he said, is advised to remain calm and not be influenced by issues whose truth cannot be justified.
Teguh reminded the public to ensure that official information only comes from BMKG and is disseminated through verified official communication channels.
BMKG appealed to the public to remain calm and prepare preparedness steps such as ensuring buildings are earthquake resistant, preparing disaster preparedness bags and practicing to protect themselves during an earthquake.
“Also strengthen disaster mitigation, both structural and cultural, and provide massive education regarding potential earthquakes and their impacts and mitigation,” said Teguh Rahayu.
