“There are at least 1,950 new grave plots that will be opened after the demolition of hundreds of residents’ houses on the grounds of Kebon Nanas TPU and Kober Rawa Bunga TPU, Jatinegara, is completed,” said Hasni when confirmed, Saturday (22/11), quoted from

Based on data, 280 heads of families (KK) consisting of 517 people currently live on the land of Kebon Nanas TPU and Kober Rawa Bunga TPU.
“The Kober TPU can accommodate approximately 450 new grave plots. The Kebon Nanas TPU can accommodate approximately 1,500 grave plots,” explained Hasni.
Apart from that, graves at Kebon Nanas TPU and Kober Rawa Bunga TPU that are no longer in use or whose bodies have been moved will also become new burial grounds.
Hasni hopes that the opening of this new burial plot can overcome the problem of the grave land crisis in DKI Jakarta, where currently only nine TPUs are available that can serve new cemeteries.
Meanwhile, 69 TPUs spread across the DKI Jakarta area are full or unable to accommodate new bodies, only serving burials using a body-sharing system.
“There are still graves whose bodies (bodies have been) moved that we can use. We can create new burial services (at TPU Kebon Nanas and TPU Kober),” said Hasni.
For the initial stage, the DKI City Parks and Forest Service has coordinated with the East Jakarta City Government to carry out socialization on the return of the function of the two TPU lands.
Residents who have lived on the land of TPU Kebon Nanas and TPU Kober Rawa Bunga for decades were asked to vacate their houses, and were facilitated to move to Rusunawa units.
The East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) will set up a service post for residents who live in the Public Cemetery (TPU) area and need relocation.
“The existence of the post is to make it easier for residents occupying the Kober TPU land in Rawa Bunga and Kebon Nanas sub-districts in Cipinang Besar Selatan sub-district to obtain information and assistance,” said East Jakarta City Secretary Eka Darmawan.
This post accepts complaints and consultations to facilitate residents who need to relocate to Rusunawa in line with the restoration of the function of the TPU.
Each post is located at the Rawa Bunga Subdistrict Office, Cipinang Besar Selatan (CBS) Subdistrict Office, and Jatinegara District Office.
Through this post, said Eka, residents can carry out consultations regarding relocation to flats, moving children’s schools, searching for new business locations, transferring population administration data, and others.
