Earth with a magnitude of 4.6 rocked Enggano Island, Regency
Bengkulu
North, Bengkulu Province, on Saturday (20/12) evening.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the earthquake occurred at around 20.13 WIB.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in the sea about 28 kilometers northeast of Enggano Island with a depth of 7 kilometers.

“The epicenter of the earthquake was located at coordinates 5.23 South Latitude; 102.5 East Longitude, or precisely located in the sea at a distance of 28 km North East of ENGGANO-BENGKULU at a depth of 7 km,” said BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Director, Daryono in his statement, Saturday (20/12).

Daryono said the earthquake was caused by the activity of the Enggano Fault.
“By paying attention to the location and depth of the epicenter of the earthquake, the earthquake that occurred was a shallow earthquake due to the activity of the Enggano Fault,” he said.
The impact of the earthquake was felt on the MMI II-III intensity scale.So far there has been no activity indicating aftershocks.
The earthquake was felt in Enggano, Bengkulu II – III MMI (the shaking was felt by many people and felt real in the house, as if a truck was passing by, light objects hanging were swaying).
Until now there have been no reports of the impact of damage caused by the earthquake.
