Police Monitor Gas Stations in Aceh, Anticipate Queues and Fuel Hoarding

Joint personnel from the Tipidter Sub-Directorate, Ditreskrimsus Polda Aceh carry out supervision at 20 gas stations in
Banda Aceh
to ensure the availability of fuel oil (
BBM
) for communities after flash floods and landslides.
This supervision is carried out to prevent long queues and potential hoarding practices by individuals who take advantage of emergency situations.
Director of Criminal and Criminal Investigation of the Aceh Regional Police, Commissioner Zulhir Destrian, said that supervision was carried out intensively by deploying personnel to all gas station points that had the potential to experience a surge in purchases, causing long queues.

“We are starting to monitor gas stations in Banda Aceh. This is to avoid the practice of hoarding which also has implications for long queues at 20 gas stations,” said Zulhir in a written statement, Thursday (4/12).
Zulhir said that his party also coordinates directly with gas station officers to ensure fuel distribution runs according to regulations.
Zulhir said officers were asked to be more selective in servicing purchases and report immediately if indications of excessive purchases were found.
Zulhir said that his party also appealed to the public to purchase fuel appropriately according to their needs.This is to prevent panic and ensure supplies remain evenly distributed throughout the region, especially for communities affected by disasters.
Apart from that, he continued, the police also coordinated with Pertamina and the Aceh ESDM Service, including conveying advice regarding the release of barcodes in accordance with the governor’s regulations that apply in emergency situations.This policy is expected to speed up service at gas stations and prevent vehicle build-up.
Then, communication was also carried out with the Pertamina Depot to ensure that fuel distribution from the depot to all gas stations ran smoothly without any obstacles.
“This monitoring effort is part of the Aceh Regional Police’s commitment to maintaining post-disaster stability, as well as preventing certain parties from taking advantage in the midst of a difficult situation,” he said.
