“Giving trust, giving me a mandate to lead the Surabaya City PDI Perjuangan DPC. That is what we must of course uphold,” said Armuji.
Armuji emphasized that this mandate would be carried out in accordance with the message of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri, namely by always being present in the community and listening directly to the people’s needs.
“What the General Chairperson always orders is, listen, come. Wherever people need help, we will not hesitate to lend a hand,” he said.
According to Armuji, the existence of a party must be able to provide real solutions for society. Therefore, in the future, the entire PDIP structure in Surabaya will be asked to be responsive to the needs of the residents.
“So that the people know what they need, we can provide something for their needs,” said the man who often goes viral on social media.
Answering questions regarding the challenges of the next five years, Armuji expressed optimism that PDIP Surabaya would rise again and win several seats in the DPRD that were lost in the last election.
“The message from the Secretary General, in the next five years, I am sure we will be optimistic about all the PDIP’s strengths in Surabaya. Our organizational structure, from sub-branches, branches, to PAC, is always united, always together, always working together,” he said.
“Come on, bro, let’s take it back. Our seats were down yesterday, we have to return them. At least they are as before, hopefully we can add them,” he added.
Armuji also highlighted the importance of embracing young voters, especially generation Z and millennials, in future winning strategies. He emphasized that the approach to young voters would be carried out massively and sustainably.
“Our administrators are Gen Z children, millennial children. So, that’s who will later win votes from Gen Z and millennials,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi himself, was confirmed as Deputy Chair for Tourism, Youth and Sports of the East Java PDIP DPD.
Eri assessed that the composition of the Surabaya City PDI Perjuangan DPC management under Armuji’s leadership this time was a combination of senior and junior cadres.
“In this management, a combination of seniors and juniors join the DPC management. If we saw earlier, many of the PDI Surabaya DPC administrators are Gen Z,” said Eri.
He hopes that the presence of the younger generation can strengthen the party’s role in society.
“Hopefully with the strength of Gen Z, the PDI Surabaya DPC can continue to be useful for the people of Surabaya,” he said.
Eri also expressed hope that PDIP Surabaya City could do better ahead of the 2029 elections.
“As said by the Chairman of the East Java DPD, Buya Said, in 2029 we can do better and be more useful for the people of Surabaya in particular,” concluded Eri.
