Indonesian National Futsal Team Captain Mochammad Iqbal Iskandar directly looks forward to the 2026 Futsal Asian Cup after successfully winning a gold medal

Iqbal conveyed this considering that there will be the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup from January 27 to February 7.
“For the next event there may be an AFC, we will be the host and there will be another call for the initial selection in 2026,” said Iqbal, as reported by detik, Saturday (20/12).

“Certainly the levels are different from ASEAN to Asia, what is certain is that this (SEA Games results) can be our benchmark for facing the AFC later,” he said.
In this event, Indonesia was joined in Group A with South Korea, Kyrgyzstan and Iraq.
“What is certain is that there is a lot that needs to be evaluated, but that is the domain of the coach, but there are still many things that can be improved. Honestly, we need trials against strong teams,” he said.
He gave an example of what was done at the beginning of this year, the Indonesian national futsal team was able to play against a number of big countries such as Argentina, Japan, Saudi Arabia.They also brought in Latvia, the Netherlands and Tanzania, and most recently had a trial against Australia.
The trials against strong teams made Iqbal et al more mature.Evidently, this hard work also resulted in a gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games.
“Things like that are what our national team needs to improve further in the future,” said Iqbal.
“What is certain is that our futsal in Asia has less body posture than other teams. But we try to maximize the advantages we have, such as speed,” he stressed.
