Tornado
hit the Cikaum District area,
Subang Regency
, West Java on Sunday (16/11) last afternoon, around 16.00 WIB.
The incident which occurred when heavy rain poured down the area caused significant damage to three villages.
Based on temporary data collection, three villages were affected, namely Gandasari Village, West Tanjungsari Village and East Tanjungsari Village.

A number of public facilities and residents’ houses were damaged due to strong winds.
Several trees fell, public street lighting (PJU) lamps collapsed, as well as damage to house roofs in the form of earthen roofs, light steel roof tiles and asbestos that were blown away by the wind.
Based on information from Subang Police Chief AKBP Dony Eko Wicaksono said there were residents’ houses that suffered damage varying from light, moderate to heavy.
He said that since yesterday he had deployed personnel to assist with the evacuation and data collection process in the field.
“We, together with the sub-district government, BPBD and village officials immediately moved to help the affected residents,” he said.
Until now, the process of further data collection and material cleaning is still being carried out by joint officers and residents.The regional government is also preparing assistance measures for affected residents.
“There were no casualties in this natural disaster,” he said.
For the time being, several residents whose houses were affected fled to the village hall or to the homes of other residents who were not affected.
Details of the damage are as follows:
1. Gandasari Village
Severely damaged: 4 houses
Moderate damage: 21 houses
Total: 25 houses
2. West Tanjungsari Village
Severely damaged: 7 houses
Moderate damage: 11 houses
Light damage: 40 houses
Total: 58 houses
3. East Tanjungsari Village
Severely damaged: 15 houses
Moderate damage: 12 houses
Total: 27 houses
Siliwangi University Building Roof Collapses
Meanwhile in Tasikmalaya City, West Java, the roof of the building in the open reading room at the Faculty of Education, Siliwangi University collapsed last Sunday afternoon.
The incident where the roof of the campus building collapsed occurred at 12.55 WIB.
In that incident, a number of students became victims as a result of being hit by falling roof material.All of the victims were students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, with one of them being an alumni.
The chronology of the incident occurred when around 20 students from the FKIP Language Department, Siliwangi University, Class of 2024, were carrying out theater stage rehearsals in preparation for the Final Semester Examination at the Open Reading Room, FKIP, Siliwangi University.
Suddenly the Open Reading Room building collapsed and hit 18 students who were carrying out theater performance rehearsals, then the victims were evacuated and taken to the UNSIL Health Clinic, TMC Hospital and Dr.Soekardjo to get medical treatment.
Some of the findings collected by the police included finding that the roof frame was made of light steel which had become porous.According to Siliwangi University, the building has been standing and built for more than 5 years.
“The cause of the building collapse is still under investigation,” said Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Police Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, when contacted via short message.
