Apart from that, the SAR team also evacuated two motorbikes found at Worksite B-2 at 09.11 WIB.
Based on temporary data as of 10.00 WIB, the total number of victims affected by the landslide was 46 people, consisting of 23 people who survived, 15 people who died, and eight other people are still being searched for.
Abdullah said that on the fifth day of operations the joint SAR team applied three search methods, namely area monitoring using thermal drones to detect hot spots suspected of being the victim’s whereabouts.
Furthermore, the deployment of sniffer dogs to comb buried residential areas and the operation of heavy equipment to speed up the process of excavating landslide material.
According to him, the three methods were carried out in parallel to expand the scope of the search while increasing the chances of finding victims.
“The division of the search area is still the same as the previous day, namely four work sites including A1 and A2 in Cibuyut Hamlet and B1 and B2 in Tarukahan Hamlet,” he said.
Abdullah said that each work site was led by a field coordinator with the preparation of safer evacuation routes as the ground conditions began to stabilize.
Apart from that, said Abdullah, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has made weather modifications since Sunday (16/11) to reduce the potential for rain at the disaster location.
“This effort had a positive impact because the weather from Sunday (16/11) afternoon to Monday (17/11) morning was clear, making it easier for SAR personnel to carry out searches,” said Abdullah.
