, confirmed to withdraw from the 2025 Australian Open.
This confirmation was obtained after the Indonesian women’s singles coach, Imam Tohari, announced Gregoria’s withdrawal from participation in the 2025 Australian Open.
“Gregoria Mariska Tunjung was forced to withdraw from her participation in the 2025 Australian Open after seeing her physical condition after the 2025 Kumamoto Masters final,” said Imam Tohari, quoted from a PBSI release on Monday (17/11).

Imam Tohari explained that Gregoria’s physical condition did not allow him to return to competing in the event after reaching the final of the 2025 Kumamoto Masters last Sunday.
“From the results of monitoring and assessment, Gregoria still needs a longer recovery to return to competing. The short recovery with the remaining time plus the long journey from Japan to Australia poses a risk to his physical fitness,” said Imam Tohari.
This means that now as many as six Indonesian representatives have withdrawn from the 2025 Australian Open which will take place on 18-23 November at the Quaycentre, Olympic Boulevard.
The six Indonesian representatives who resigned were Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah, Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah, Komang Ayu Cahya, Bagas Maulana/Leo Rolly Carnando, and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

Head of PBSI Binpres, Eng Hian, revealed that Anthony Sinisuka Ginting will definitely not appear because the match schedule coincides with the birth of his first child.
PBSI respects Ginting’s decision to accompany his family and fully supports him so he can return to competition with new enthusiasm.
“Family is an important part of an athlete’s balanced life. We believe Ginting will return with stronger motivation,” said Eng Hian, quoted from the PBSI release.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah was also withdrawn from the list of participants because the match schedule coincided with the academic exam he had to take.PBSI supports athletes’ commitment to education as part of character development.
“We want athletes to continue balancing career and education. Coaching is not only about achievements on the field, but also overall personal development,” said Eng Hian.
Men’s doubles Bagas Maulana/Leo Rolly Carnando also did not take part in the 2025 Australian Open because they were focused on an intensive preparation program for the 2025 SEA Games.
“We withdrew Bagas and Leo from the Australian Open so that they can focus on preparations for the SEA Games, which is a national priority tournament. We want them to appear in the best condition, both physically and mentally,” said Eng Hian
Meanwhile, the mixed doubles Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah canceled their appearance because Amri was suffering from smallpox, which meant there was insufficient preparation time for the tournament.
“This decision was taken to maintain health and prevent the risk of decline in performance. We want to ensure they fully recover before returning to competition,” said Eng Hian.
PBSI emphasizes that every decision to adjust players is carried out in a measurable manner and takes into account the long-term interests of developing national athletes.
“With the spirit of continuous development and a mature competitive strategy, I am optimistic that the Indonesian team will continue to show high competitiveness and maintain its position as one of the main powers in world badminton,” said Eng Hian.
