In this case, Bareskrim Polri has examined 40 witnesses, namely 10 people from PT PMT and 15 people from suppliers of raw materials to PT PMT.
Inspections were also carried out on 1 stall owner, 2 people from the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (Bapeten), 4 people from the waste collection party, 6 people from the management of the Cikande modern industrial area, 1 person from the Ministry of the Environment, and 1 notary.
“And the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the National Police is still continuing to investigate other parties suspected of being involved,” he added.
Furthermore, Bara explained that based on witness statements, the temporary conclusion regarding the origin of the Cs-137 pollution at PT PMT Cikande came from within the country.
“Through the purchase of used scrap materials where the scrap is mixed with equipment used for domestic industry which contains Cesium 137 which was obtained legally or illegally,” explained Bara.
He said it was suspected that the raw materials had not been properly stored, monitored and disposed of, which had to comply with the terms and conditions issued by Bapeten.
“This one did not carry out the storage, supervision and transfer/disposal processes correctly in accordance with the applicable regulations, where the use of these tools for domestic industrial needs must comply with the terms and conditions issued by the government through Bapeten,” he said.
In this case, Bareskrim Polri applied Article 98 Paragraph (1) and/or Article 103 of Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management.
Bara also said that Bareskrim Polri had submitted a ban against Lin Jinzhang to the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas).
On the same occasion, Kasubdit II Tipidter Bareskrim Polri Kombes Pol Sardo M. P. Sibarani said the suspect had not been detained because he was cooperative.
“We didn’t arrest him because we saw he was cooperative. So if he wanted to come, he still would
stand by
still in Indonesia,” said Sardo.
