Meanwhile, the condition of residents is also increasingly threatened.They chose to sleep at several points on the side of the road because their houses were destroyed while waiting for help to arrive.
An Aceh resident, Tamiang Khalid, said that until today, Thursday (4/12), his party was still waiting for the logistics to arrive.Because the assistance that has been given is only enough for 1 day’s food.
“We were forced to sleep on the street, the house was destroyed, there was no aid. At some points the smell of carcasses had started, I don’t know if it was the smell of dead humans or dead animals,” said Khalid to journalists when contacted from Banda Aceh, Thursday (4/12).
He said the first logistical assistance that arrived was on Tuesday (2/12) in the form of 10 sacks of rice and 20 boxes of instant noodles.However, the logistics were still lacking for refugees numbering around 2000 people at that point.
Meanwhile, a resident of Kampung Dalam, Karang Baru, Aceh Regency, Tamiang Wahyu Pratama, said that aid came to the area only 6 days after the flood.
Previously they only looked for food scraps carried away by the flood currents so they could eat them again.
“We swam looking for whatever was there, coconuts, bananas or food that had drifted away. We took a little rice and cooked it like that over fire, then we ate one spoonful for 1 person, especially for the children,” he said.
He said the conditions in the area were quite serious so that currently he estimated that 250 people had died and 150 of them had been lost by the current.He said some of the victims had been buried and taken to hospital.
“There are around 250 fatalities, of which 150 are still missing. Some have been buried and are in hospital,” he said.
Aceh Regency Government Spokesperson Tamiang Agusliayana Devita could not confirm that the number of victims in Karang Baru had reached 250 people.Currently, his party is searching the area.
“We can’t confirm yet (250 victims at Karang Baru), but the team has moved to the area to look for detailed information. We’ll let you know later,” said Agusliayana when confirmed.
Agusliayana also does not deny that there are still many areas that cannot be reached because all access is cut off.
