Sarmidi, Chair of the New Beach Fishermen’s Group, said that the construction of KNMP gives great hope for improving the welfare of fishermen and coastal communities.

“We got help with boats, nets, machines. Fishermen will also sell fish not far away. The most awaited thing is the ice factory and repair shop,” said Sarmidi at Pantai Baru, Srandakan, Friday (21/11).
Construction of KNMP Bantul is said to have reached 55 percent and continues to be accelerated.The facilities prepared include boat moorings and sheet piles, fish landing shelters (TPI), fishing boat docking, and ship engine repair shops.
According to Sarmidi, the existence of a ship repair shop is very urgent.During this time, damage to ship engines means fishermen have to travel long distances to repair them.
“If the machine is damaged, you automatically have to go to a repair shop. Currently, if the machine is really damaged, you take it to Bipo or Cilacap,” he said.
He hopes that the presence of KNMP will have a real impact on fishermen and coastal communities.Sarmidi said that all the fishermen in Srandakan were very enthusiastic about the program initiated by President Prabowo.
The government, through the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), is targeting 65 Red and White Fishing Villages to be completed by 2025. This target is part of the plan to build 100 fishing villages in various regions of Indonesia.
The first stage includes 65 locations in accordance with Decree of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Number 55 of 2025, while 35 other locations are still in the process of being proposed.
“Friends are all enthusiastic. For Mr. President Prabowo, I hope he will always be healthy and continue to pay attention to small communities, fishermen like us. For Mr. Trenggono (Minister of KKP) also, I hope he will always be healthy,” said Sarmidi.
