called the guilty verdict and death sentence in the trial “biased and politically motivated.”

“The verdict I was told was made by a doctored court, led by an unelected government and without a democratic mandate,” Hasina said in a statement from her hiding place in India, quoted
AFP
.
“They are partisan and politically motivated,” he added.
But despite this, 78-year-old Hasina ignored court orders to return from India and attend the trial.
In fact, the trial was aimed at finding out about the acts of violence committed against the students who ousted him from power.
His critics accuse him of throwing political opponents in prison, stifling press freedom and allowing human rights violations that have killed thousands of people.
According to the United Nations (UN), as many as 1,400 died and this death toll was a major aspect of the trial.
“A guilty verdict is inevitable,” Hasina said and said she was willing to appear for a new trial abroad.
“I am not afraid of the accusers in court, the evidence can be weighed and tested,” he added.
“That’s why I challenge the government to take these charges to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.”
However, the International Criminal Court said “the political impact of this ruling is significant”.
“The trial process is not without criticism,” said ICG analyst Thomas Kean.
“In trials without defendants there are often disputes, in this case the speed of the process and minimal resources for the defense raise doubts about justice, but this should not be used to distract from Sheikh Hasina’s actions.”
Kean also added, “The chances of Sheikh Hasina returning to politics in Bangladesh are very slim.”
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s foreign ministry also summoned Indian representatives and asked New Delhi to prevent fugitive Hasina from speaking to the media so as not to spread hatred.
