Pre-sale ticket sales were scheduled to begin on Monday, but were later postponed.
Limp Bizkit’s concert schedule was announced on November 7, then sparked backlash when it was revealed that Durst had made statements supporting Russia’s military campaign.
Durst had previously appeared on stage holding a banner that read “CRIMEA=RUSSIA”.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs told
ERR News
that there is no place in Estonia for supporters of the aggressor country.
“Estonia supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the principle that every last centimeter of Ukrainian territory belongs to Ukraine,” the ministry’s media adviser, Brita Kikkas, told
ERR News
.
He added that parties supporting the aggressor country do not belong in Estonia or in the Estonian cultural space.
The Baltic Live Agency stated in a press release on November 7 that it was aware of Durst’s views.
“The only way we can explain it is that at that time (until 2019), Fred Durst was married to a Russian woman of Crimean origin and seemed to be living in a distorted information bubble,” said the agency’s media manager, Gunnar Viese.
Pro-Vladimir Putin
Limp Bizkit, formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1994, has become one of the most recognized names in the world of alternative metal in the early 2000s.
Durst was married for several years to Crimean-born Russian make-up artist Kseniya Beryazina. After Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula in 2014, Durst praised Russian regime leader Vladimir Putin as “a great man with clear moral principles and a good person” and expressed interest in buying a house in Crimea.
Ukraine banned Limp Bizkit from performing in the country in 2015, following Durst’s statement and the raising of the “CRIMEA = RUSSIA” flag.
In 2024, Durst wrote on the popular Russian social media platform VKontakte that he missed his fans in Russia and hoped to see them soon.
Limp Bizkit last performed in Lithuania in 2020. Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT reported that around 2,500 people attended the concert at the 20,000-seat stadium.
Latvian organizers told Lithuanian media at the time that they were aware of Durst’s past comments but said he had not made similar statements since 2015.
