An additional three points from the match against Armenia means Portugal has collected 13 points and is firmly at the top of Group F of the 2026 World Cup Qualification standings.

By occupying the top position in the standings, Roberto Martinez’s team is entitled to tickets to the World Cup which will be held in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Less than an hour after Portugal’s victory over Armenia, Ronaldo uploaded a message.
“We’re going to the World Cup! Come on, Portugal!”wrote Ronaldo in the caption of an upload featuring a photo of the aging player and a photo of the Portugal national team.

Portugal had the potential to secure a ticket to the 2026 World Cup on November 13, but instead lost to Ireland so they failed to win a ticket.In that match, Ronaldo received a red card which prevented him from representing Portugal against Armenia.
Portugal’s graduation to the 2026 World Cup opens up the opportunity for Ronaldo to compete again in this prestigious quadrennial event.
Ronaldo has previously defended Portugal in five World Cups, namely 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022.
In his five appearances for Portugal at the World Cup, Ronaldo has appeared 22 times and scored eight goals.
Ronaldo’s best achievement was leading Portugal to fourth place in the 2006 World Cup. Meanwhile, in the last World Cup, Ronaldo couldn’t help but cry when Portugal was defeated by Morocco in the quarter-finals.
