Jewish Coalition in

, United States, criticized the organization that focuses on fighting hatred, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for creating programs that lead to Islamophobia, the Mamdani Monitor.

The coalition consists of various Jewish communities in the US such as Bend the Arc, Jews for Racial & Economic Justice, Rodfei Shalom (Rabbis4Ceasefire), and If Not Now.They sent a letter to the ADL and called the project detrimental to the collective fight “against anti-Semitism and Islamophobia” in New York City.
“The Jewish community in New York City rejects the ADL’s blatant Islamophobia, you will not separate us from our neighbors,” said the letter sent on Tuesday (12/11), which Bend the Arc posted on Instagram.
They then said, “We congratulate mayor-elect Zohran K. Mamdani on his election and appreciate his vision for a New York City free from hate violence.”
In the letter, the Jewish coalition also promised to work together with Mamdani, especially in rejecting Islamophobia and racism from various groups or parties.

Another Jewish community, Bend the Arc: Jewish Action also initiated a petition and rejected the Mamdani Monitor.
“We reject false accusations of antisemitism against progressive black, brown, Muslim champions who are fighting for a country where we can thrive,” the community was quoted as saying

They also emphasized that Mamdani had worked and prayed with New York’s Jewish citizens and was committed to protecting the city’s Jewish community.
Shortly after Mamdani’s election victory, the ADL announced its intention to track and monitor the policies of New York City’s first Muslim mayor.They considered that Mamdani’s actions would endanger the Jewish community.
“Given Mayor-Elect Mamdani’s long and troubling track record on issues of great concern to the Jewish community, ADL is monitoring and responding to policies and appointments made by the new Administration,” their statement said.
The ADL also said it was setting up a citywide information hotline for citizens to report antisemitic incidents in New York City.
The information channel, they continued, will serve as a highly focused source of information for New Yorkers to report anti-Semitic incidents on the streets, in schools, or in the workplace.
Mamdani is one of the US politicians who loudly condemns Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.He even promised to arrest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if elected mayor of New York.
During the campaign, he also promised to protect Jews and other groups who did not vote for him in the New York mayoral election.
