Mayor of Banda Aceh Illiza Sa’aduddin Djamal canceled his departure to Istanbul, Türkiye, because Aceh was still in the emergency response period for hydrometeorological disasters in the form of flash floods and landslides in the province.
Aceh was one of three provinces on the island of Sumatra that experienced sporadic flash floods and landslides at the end of last November.

IIliza said that Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf had conveyed his departure to Türkiye to the Minister of Home Affairs to give permission, because Banda Aceh did not have too many problems.According to him, the request for permission was welcomed by the Minister of Home Affairs.
However, IIliza admitted that she felt uncomfortable if she still went abroad.
He said that although Banda Aceh had the flood problem under control, the food supply there depended on Medan, North Sumatra (North Sumatra).And, it became homework for him.
“But I think it won’t feel good to go. Even though Banda Aceh has controlled the flooding problem, there are still problems, because we all depend on Medan for food supplies and other things,” said Illiza.
