SEA Games 2025

Thanks to Prabowo’s words, said Okto, athletes’ motivation shot up.This is because Prabowo promised a bonus of IDR 1 billion for gold winners, almost double the 2023 SEA Games amount of IDR 525 million.
“And what I said, heard that the bonuses are all crazy and our athletes in Bangkok, in Thailand, everything is really crazy. And everything is reported periodically from the Minister of Youth and Sports [Erick Thohir] to the president,” said Okto in Jakarta, Wednesday (24/12).

“And the president even communicated directly with the athlete when the equestrian won [gold]. I think this attention will encourage us. And we will return the bonus to the president,” he added.
The Indonesian contingent received 91 gold, 112 silver and 130 bronze.This achievement also exceeds the target of 80 gold stated by the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir.
These results made Indonesia finish in second place in the 2025 SEA Games medal standings. This is the Red and White team’s best achievement since becoming overall champions of the 2011 Jakarta-Palembang SEA Games.
However, as an away participant, Indonesia’s score at the 2025 SEA Games equaled the results at the 1995 Chiang Mai SEA Games.Therefore, NOC Indonesia considers this achievement impressive.
“The initial target of 80 gold was successfully exceeded by winning 91 gold. This is not just about numbers, but about the quality of struggle, competitiveness and character of Indonesian athletes at the Southeast Asian level,” said Okto.
