Asian Football Confederation (
AFC
) officially imposed a fine on the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) totaling US$12,500 or around Rp. 208 million due to a number of violations that occurred in the Asian Cup qualifying match against Nepal.
Quoting a report from The Kathmandu Post quoted from Stadium Astro, this decision was the result of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee meeting which was held on Monday (14/12).
In this decision, FAM was deemed responsible for the delay in the kick-off of the first half for more than one minute and 20 seconds and the delay in the start of the second half for one minute and 30 seconds in the match which took place at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on November 18.

For this violation, FAM was declared to have violated Article 2.2 of the AFC Competition Operations Manual and was fined US$2,500 (Rp. 41.7).Similar sanctions were also imposed on the Nepal Football Association (ANFA) for the same offence.
In addition, the AFC imposed an additional fine of US$10,000 (Rp. 167 million) on FAM for failing to ensure Player of the Match, Faisal Halim, was present at the post-match press conference.
This violation is considered to violate Article 31.3 of the 2027 AFC Saudi Arabia Asian Cup Competition Regulations.
Faisal Halim was also individually fined RM40,770 (Rp. 680 million) for violating Article 31.3 of the same regulation.
The AFC emphasized that all fines must be paid within 30 days of the decision being announced in accordance with Article 11.3 of the AFC Code of Discipline and Ethics.
Previously, the International Football Federation (FIFA) also imposed sanctions on Malaysia by canceling the results of Harimau Malaya’s three international test matches and giving a 3-0 win to Cape Verde, Singapore and Palestine.
