“It’s been 25 days, we can’t do it anymore,” said a resident of Jamat Village, Sertalia in Central Aceh, Saturday (20/12).
Jamat Village is one of the isolated villages in Central Aceh following the flash flood and landslide disaster.Road access to this village is completely cut off.
Village residents hope that road access in their village can be restored soon and ask the government to respond more quickly and responsively.
He revealed that many local residents had difficulty getting food.”We don’t want to beg, but please open our road access so we can try,” said Sertalia.
He said that three weeks had passed after the disaster, and there had still been no repair and recovery efforts by the government for their village.
According to him, the conditions of the villagers are also becoming increasingly difficult and they are starting to run out of food, medicine and other basic necessities for survival.
Meanwhile, the logistical assistance that village residents have received, said Sertalia, is very limited and is still far from sufficient.
“We have run out of energy for mutual cooperation, building refugee tents, collecting property that can still be used, opening roads and building bridges,” he said.
The flash flood and landslide three weeks ago caused four villages in the Wih Dusun Jamat residential area to disappear.Namely Jamat Village, Kute Reje, Delung Sekinel and Reje Payung Village.
“As many as 120 families from these four villages are now living in refugee camps, the villages have turned into rivers and have been swept away by flash floods,” he said.
