(BNPB) reported an increase in the number of deaths due to
flash floods and landslides
in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra to 969 people as of Wednesday (10/12).
“From the 964 victims who died on Tuesday (9/12), today there are 969 people with the discovery of two additional victims in Langkat, North Sumatra, and three victims in Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra,” said Head of the BNPB Data and Information Center, Abdul Muhari in a press conference broadcast on BNPB’s YouTube, Wednesday (10/12).
Muhari said the number of missing victims as of today is 252 people.This number is reduced from the previous data of 264 people on Tuesday (9/12).

“Then for missing victims, today there are 12 fewer people,” he said.
Muhari said Aceh was the area with the highest number of deaths, reaching 391 people.
With details of the death toll per province, Aceh is 391 people.The highest was in North Aceh with 128 people, followed by Aceh Tamiang with 58 people and East Aceh with 48 people.Then 31 people were still missing and 4,300 people were injured.
Floods and landslides also damaged houses and public facilities.Field data recorded that 138,500 houses, 668 public facilities, 210 places of worship, 153 health facilities, 261 buildings, 305 educational facilities and 313 bridges were damaged.
Meanwhile, the death toll in North Sumatra was 340 people.The highest was in Central Tapanuli with 110 people, followed by South Tapanuli with 85 people, and Sibolga City with 53 people.Then 128 people were still missing and 651 people were injured.
Meanwhile, the death toll in West Sumatra reached 238 people.The highest is in Agam Regency with 181 people.Then 93 people are still missing and 113 people are injured.
Flash floods and landslides hit a number of areas in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra at the end of last November.There are 52 districts/cities affected by this ecological disaster.
Some areas are even reported to still be isolated in various regions, such as Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.However, almost two weeks have passed, the central government has not declared this disaster a national disaster.
