Cambodia decided to withdraw from
SEA Games 2025

The main factor that made Cambodia withdraw from the 2025 SEA Games was war.Currently, the Cambodian and Thai military war is raging in the border area.

Through a complicated process, peace was agreed.Exactly on October 26 2025, Cambodia and Thailand signed a memorandum of peace over the conflict that was created.
However, escalation increased again in mid-November 2025. This situation forced Cambodia to withdraw its men’s and women’s football contingents on November 26.

At the opening of the 2025 SEA Games at Rajamangala Stadium, Tuesday (9/12), there were 137 Cambodian contingents in Thailand, consisting of athletes and team officials.
However, on Wednesday (10/12) afternoon, the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, signed by Secretary General Vath Chamroeun, sent a letter to the National Olympic Committee of Thailand.
In the letter, it was stated that Cambodia was withdrawing all of its contingent from the 2025 SEA Games. The main reason for this withdrawal was the request of the athletes’ families and officials.
“On behalf of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, we regret to inform you that, due to the deep concerns and requests from the families of our athletes.”
“We were forced to withdraw the entire delegation and arrange their immediate return to Cambodia for their safety.”That’s what Cambodia’s letter to Thailand said.
With this letter, all Cambodian contingents will no longer appear in all sports at the 2025 SEA Games. The Cambodian contingent will leave Bangkok on Thursday (11/12).
