Police said five victims died in the incident
fire
in Penjaringan,
North Jakarta

Penjaringan Police Chief Commissioner Agus Adi Wijaya said the fire occurred on Thursday (18/12) at around 20.10 WIB last night and the victims were successfully evacuated at 08.30 WIB.
“At 08.30 WIB the process of evacuating five bodies was carried out by the Identification Team. At 08.45 WIB the five bodies that were evacuated were sent to RSCM for the autopsy process,” said Agus in his statement, Friday (19/12).

Agus explained that the fire was first discovered by a witness who was working to guard a parking lot near the location.At that time, the witness saw and heard sparks accompanied by residents shouting to put out the fire.
The witness then reported the incident to the police.Furthermore, the police coordinated with firefighters and other parties for the extinguishing process.
In that incident, said Agus, fire was seen burning from the front side of the house.Then, the direction of the fire was towards the back of the house.
“Officers and residents in the field heard screams from inside the house asking for help. Next, officers and residents tried to enter by prying open the grille using a crowbar from the back door of the house, but the fire was already big and there was thick smoke, so finally the officers and residents withdrew for safety,” he said.
“Next, officers and residents tried to find information about the 5 people who lived in the house, but they were not seen around the crime scene and could not be contacted,” he continued.
A fire engulfed a house and a warehouse for homemade accessories on Jalan Lindung Pasar Baru, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Thursday (18/12) evening.This fire caused five people to die.
“Five people died,” said the Chief Executive of BPBD DKI Jakarta, Isnawa Adji in his statement, Friday (19/12).
