A total of four ASEAN country teams are certain to fail
2027 Asian Cup
after not being able to compete in the qualifying round.
The Southeast Asian region has just sent two representatives to the 2027 Asian Cup which will take place in Saudi Arabia: the Indonesian and Singapore national teams.
Meanwhile, four other teams are still waiting for the remaining tickets to the biggest football party in Asia.The rest will certainly be eliminated from the competition.

So far four ASEAN teams have certainly failed to advance to the 2027 Asian Cup. The four countries are: Timor Leste, Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar and Laos.
Timor Leste cannot go to the 2027 Asian Cup after being ranked third in Group A standings with 3 points.With one match remaining in the group, Timor Leste cannot compete with the Philippines and Tajikistan.
A similar condition occurred with Brunei in Group B. The team nicknamed Tebuan was also ranked third in the group with 3 points after losing 0-3 to Lebanon in the last match.
Meanwhile, Lebanon, which is at the top of the standings, has 13 points and Yemen, which is in second place, has 11 points.
Myanmar is also certain to be eliminated because it will not be able to catch up with Syria, which is at the top of Group E with 15 points.
Myanmar still has two matches remaining.Even though they won in these two matches, Myanmar’s maximum points at the end of the 2027 Asian Cup Qualification are only 12 points.
Finally, there is Laos, which has 3 points in Group F and is in third place.Laos is certain to fail to advance to the 2027 Asian Cup after losing 0-2 to Vietnam in the last match.
Actually, there are 5 Southeast Asian teams that failed to reach the 2027 Asian Cup.Cambodia was the first to be eliminated because they lost to Sri Lanka in the playoffs in September 2024.
Meanwhile, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam are still waiting until the final match which will take place in March 2026 to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup.
The situation is slightly different for Vietnam and Malaysia, who will clash with each other in the final match.
Harimau Malaya is in a disadvantageous position because it is caught in a case of alleged use of fake documents in naturalizing seven players.The process is currently proceeding to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
If the appeal to CAS is rejected, Malaysia could potentially be punished by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) with a points deduction that could mean they fail to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup.
