Thailand is closing in on a gold medal record

Thailand won another SEA Games gold medal after beating the Indonesian National Volleyball Team 3-2 (25-20, 16-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-12) in the men’s category final at the Huamark Indoor Stadium, Friday (19/12).
Before winning this year, Thailand failed to win gold, and even failed to win a medal at the last three SEA Games.The last time Thailand won the SEA Games was in 2017.

With this year’s victory, Thailand is approaching the Indonesian Volleyball National Team’s SEA Games gold medal record.After winning the 2023 SEA Games, Indonesia collected 12 gold medals.Meanwhile, Thailand has nine SEA Games gold medals.
Thailand’s achievement also broke the trend of gold medals for the Indonesian National Volleyball Team in the last three SEA Games from 2019 to 2023.
At the 2025 SEA Games, Indonesia was targeting to win a gold medal again, but this ambition was dashed by host Thailand through a fierce full set duel.
Indonesia and Thailand are the two teams that have won the most SEA Games gold medals.Another team that has won a SEA Games gold medal is Myanmar.
Myanmar often won men’s volleyball at the SEA Games in the early days of this multi-event in Southeast Asia, winning three times in four events.
The Red and White Team has been the most successful team during the 24 men’s volleyball events at the SEA Games since 1977. Not only because they won the most gold medals, but also collected the most medals and qualified for the final.
Of the 24 times men’s volleyball has been competed in the SEA Games, Indonesia has qualified for the final 20 times, with 12 of them winning.In total, Indonesia has 22 SEA Games medals: 12 gold, 8 silver and 2 bronze.
Furthermore, Thailand has been to the final of the SEA Games 14 times, winning 9 times and 5 runners up.Thailand also collected 5 bronze medals.
