This figure is the highest achievement for an animated film from the United States in one day in China, and the highest opening day revenue for a film from the United States in the Bamboo Curtain country.

On Friday (28/11), the debut of Zootopia 2 also marked the highest opening day for an American film in China since May 2021.
The success of Zootopia 2 was also followed by a warm welcome from the audience with a rating of 9.7 on the Maoyan ticketing platform.This figure is even higher than the previous film, Zootopia (2016), which received a rating of 9.5 on the platform.
Zootopia 2’s initial results were actually predicted from the start.The predecessor film, which was broadcast a decade ago, was very popular with the Chinese people.
Zootopia (2016) managed to gross more than US$112 million, in just ten days of broadcast.Aspects of the story that are considered to touch the hearts of local audiences are considered to be factors that influence why Chinese people really like the film.
“The story has universal themes, such as inclusion, tolerance and friendship, which can attract the attention of family audiences, both parents and children,” said Jonathan Papish, writer for China Film Insider.

Zootopia 2 will follow Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde going undercover in pursuit of Zootopia’s new and mysterious reptilian resident, Gary De’Snake.
After solving the biggest case in Zootopia history, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde realize that their teamwork is not as strong as they imagined, especially when Police Chief Bogo orders them to join a counseling program.
Not long after, both of them were put to the ultimate test when they were caught up in a twisting mystery regarding the presence of a poisonous snake in the animal metropolis.
