Vietnam won the gold medal in men’s soccer after beating hosts Thailand with a score of 3-2 at Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, Thursday (18/12) evening.

Having been behind 0-2 in the first half, Thailand came back to equalize in the second half, then took the lead in the second half with 15 minutes of added time.
Kim Sang Sik’s success equals the achievements of another South Korean coach, Park Hang Seo.Park won SEA Games gold medals twice, namely in the 2019 and 2021 (2022) editions.
Park also led The Golden Dragon to win the 2018 AFF Cup title. Kim has also achieved this title for the senior team, namely in 2024.
In other words, the only achievement Kim has yet to match is the U-23 Asian Cup.The reason is that Park brought Vietnam U-23 to become runners up in the 2018 U-23 Asian Cup.
After the 2025 SEA Games, Kim will fight to bring Vietnam through to the 2027 Asian Cup finals. The final match of the qualifying round will take place in March 2026.
