This call was welcomed by Jakarta Archbishop Ignatius Suharyo who said prayers must be offered for the disaster victims.
“We must pray for our brothers and sisters who are experiencing difficulties affected by disasters, especially in West Sumatra, North Sumatra and Aceh,” he said.
He said that Catholics throughout Indonesia, including all parishes and dioceses, expressed their concerns in this regard.
“All of Indonesia, all parishes, all dioceses, Catholics are all involved in this concern,” he said.
“Hopefully the suffering or difficulties of our brothers and sisters who are experiencing this disaster can be quickly recovered and in time they can return to life as before, continuing to try to be good citizens,” he continued.
