The fish catcher reportedly drowned in the waters

after being hit by high waves due to bad weather.
Currently a joint SAR and police team is searching for seven fishermen who are still missing.
“Currently, seven fishermen from the two ships are still being searched by a joint team. Meanwhile, nine other fishermen managed to survive,” said Head of the Medan Class A Search and Rescue Office, Hery Marantika, Tuesday (25/11).

Hery explained that the first incident occurred in Tanjung Tiram Waters, Batubara Regency on Sunday afternoon (23/11) at around 17.00 WIB.One fishing boat capsized after being hit by a sudden high wave.One fisherman is missing.
“While in the waters of Tanjung Tiram, the weather suddenly got worse and high waves hit the boat until it capsized. The victim’s colleagues managed to save themselves but unfortunately the victim was carried away by the current before finally disappearing from sight,” he explained.
Heru added that the second accident was experienced by KM Jaya Mandiri 5 which sank on Sunday (23/11) evening at around 23.00 WIB in Kuala Tanjung Waters, Asahan Regency.Six fishermen on this boat are still missing.
“The joint team searched for six crew members of KM Jaya Mandiri 5 who drowned after going to sea in the waters around Kuala Tanjung Balai Asahan,” he explained.
According to him, the joint team is currently still making every effort to find the victim.All SAR elements continue to work in the field to carry out searches both on the surface and for possible victims being carried further away by currents.
“We also urge the public, especially fishermen, to always pay attention to weather conditions before going to sea. Safety is the main thing. Changing weather conditions, high waves and strong currents are challenges for the team in the field,” he concluded.
