“We agreed that the meeting would be held in the Oval Office on Friday, November 21,” Trump wrote on Truth Social social media, Wednesday (19/11).
Mamdani won the NYC mayoral election on November 4.He will be the youngest mayor and the first Muslim to lead the largest city in the United States.
Mamdani will take the oath of office on January 1, 2026.
Mamdani and Trump got into an “argument” during the NYC mayoral election. The Democrat Party politician strongly opposes all Trump policies that are considered not pro-people, one of which is anti-immigrant policies.
New York is the city with the largest immigrant population in the United States.Mamdani himself is an immigrant born in Uganda and of Indian descent.
Trump meanwhile branded Mamdani as a communist figure who would destroy New York City.Trump once threatened to arrest Mamdani.
Trump has also threatened not to disburse federal funds to NYC if Mamdani is mayor.
After Mamdani was officially elected, Trump said that he would only give the state’s “minimum amount” to New York City.
