The White House confirmed Trump’s move.However, there are no details regarding the communications Trump has maintained with Indonesia’s two neighbors.
“President Trump called Thailand and Cambodia in an effort to mediate the latest conflict. He also contacted Malaysia to end the violence,” said the White House in an official statement released

Thailand and Cambodia have been at war since July 2025. It was recorded that 48 people were killed and 300 thousand people were forced to flee because of the war.
At the end of October, Trump mediated the conflict between the two countries through the Kuala Lumpur Peace Agreement.Thailand and Cambodia agreed to a ceasefire after being mediated by Trump.
However, the ceasefire faded after a mine explosion incident in the border area on Monday (10/11).The incident injured a Thai soldier.
Thailand temporarily suspended the peace agreement between the two countries a day after the mine incident.They feel Cambodia has violated the agreement by placing new mines on the border.
Cambodia meanwhile denies laying mines and urges Thailand to re-comply with the peace agreement.
Cambodia and Thailand exchanged fire again on the border on Wednesday (12/11).One person was killed and three people were injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, Thai military spokesman Major General Winthai Suvaree said it was Cambodian soldiers who first opened fire in the Bangkok area.
