The police revealed a number of new findings related to cases of logs swept away by floods in the Aceh and Sumatra regions.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said there were a number of saw marks on the logs.He said the discovery of saw marks would later become the focus of the investigation.
Listyo said that currently officers had been deployed to follow the river flow from upstream to downstream to see the location where the wood came from.

“From the team’s findings in the field, there were various types of wood, but we found that some had traces of chainsaw cuts. That’s what we will investigate,” he said at a press conference, Thursday (4/12).
“The team is going down together with a team from forestry to follow the affected river basin until we pull it upstream and downstream,” he added.
Furthermore, Sigit said that his party was also open to carrying out an investigation process with the Ministry of Forestry or the Forest Area Control Task Force (PKH).
“In the past few days we have deployed personnel and we will later join a team from the Ministry of Forestry and if necessary with other task forces who can join, including PKH, so that team work can be faster,” he said.
On the other hand, the Director of Certain Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Moh Irhamni said the investigation process had begun.A team, he said, had also been deployed to investigate suspected criminal acts in the incident.
“The investigation has started, a team has been formed to look for whether there was a criminal incident or not, if it is found, it will continue,” he told reporters, Thursday (4/12).
He explained that this investigation process was carried out on all companies in the area.Including, he said, parties who carry out illegal activities.
“We don’t have a permit, we are also verifying it, we are carrying out an investigation. The source is official or unofficial, whether there is a permit or not,” he concluded.
