As a result of this incident, one person died.
“The types and others are still being studied by the Jibom Gegana Polda Metro Jaya team,” said Babelan Police Chief Commissioner Wito in Bekasi Regency, Monday (24/11).

He explained that the incident began when a man with the initials I (27), who works as a scavenger, found an object which he identified as a mortar type tank bullet.The victim intended to sell the object by first cutting the bullet using a grinder.
“He got a mortar. The results of the crime scene investigation from the Jibom team were a type of mortar. (The mortar) was ground, then there was an explosion and it hit the victim,” he said.
As a result of the explosion, explained Wito, the victim was declared dead at the scene with injuries from the stomach to the arms.
“The results of the crime scene investigation showed that the victim was himself. Regarding the victim’s condition, the wound was on the stomach, yes, then there was also the hand, as a result of this explosion,” he said.
Currently the victim’s body has been taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital (RS) for further investigation.The location of the incident has also been declared sterile.Officers conducted an in-depth study regarding the details of the mortar and the explosive power of the object in question.
The Gegana Team of the National Police Mobile Brigade Corps was also at the scene to determine whether there were other explosives or not.
Wito admitted that the family had forbidden him from cutting the object, but the victim still tried to cut it because he wanted to sell it.
“The family had been reminded ‘don’t cut it, don’t do anything with it’, but because the person wanted to be weighed and sold, he was ground up,” he said.
Residents of Ujung Harapan Village, Bahagia Village, Babelan District, Bekasi Regency were shocked by the sound of a tank shell exploding which killed one person on Sunday (23/11) evening.
Kholid (42), who is a local resident, said that the incident occurred while he was at home.He heard a loud explosion.
“My position was actually right at home, and then there was a sound like ‘boom’, exploding, like firecrackers like that. I thought it was usually a PLN substation or a gas cylinder,” he said.
He immediately approached the explosion location which was about 20 meters from his house.At the scene, he also found the victim lying dead.
“The position of the victim was lying down. I saw that the victim was already sleeping. Yes (died),” he said.
