Supreme Court (MA) Civil Chamber Haswandi died at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12).
“The Supreme Court (MA) of the Republic of Indonesia is again in mourning at the end of 2025. The Supreme Court Judge of the Civil Chamber, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Haswandi, S.H., S.E., M.Hum., M.M., has passed away to the presence of God Almighty at the age of 64,” said the Supreme Court Public Relations statement as quoted from the official website of the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hold a funeral ceremony at the Supreme Court Hall.

Haswandi was born in Limapuluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra, on April 2 1961. His service in the world of justice began in 1985 as a candidate for judge in Bukittinggi.Four years later, he was officially appointed as a judge at the Pariaman District Court, marking the beginning of his long journey as a judicial officer.
Haswandi carried out various assignments in a number of work units, including the Kuala Simpang District Court and the Lubuk Pakam District Court until 1998.
“His dedication and capacity then led Prof. Haswandi to be entrusted with a structural position as Deputy Chairman of the Tanjung Balai District Court in 2002,” wrote MA Public Relations.
The following two years, Haswandi carried out his mandate as Chairman of the Batusangkar District Court.After providing service in the western region of Indonesia, Prof.Haswandi then received an assignment on the island of Java as a judge at the South Jakarta District Court in 2007.
In the period 2011 to 2023, Haswandi’s career continued with various strategic assignments, including as Deputy Chair of the Batam District Court and West Jakarta District Court, as well as Chair of the Batam District Court and South Jakarta District Court.
Ending his service at the first level work unit, in 2016 Prof.Haswandi was promoted to the Supreme Court by assuming the position of Director of General Court Technical Personnel Development at the Directorate General of the General Court Body.
Furthermore, in 2020 he was entrusted with the position of Junior Registrar for Special Civil Registry of the Supreme Court.
Haswandi was finally appointed as Supreme Judge of the Civil Chamber in 2021.
“The entire extended family of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia expresses deep condolences for the passing of the deceased. May the soul of the deceased find the best place by the side of God Almighty, and the family left behind will be given strength, patience and sincerity,” wrote the Supreme Court’s public relations officer in his statement.
