Regent of South Aceh
Mirwan MS went on Umrah in the midst of floods and landslides that hit his area.
“There are two decrees that I have signed relating to the Regent of South Aceh, namely the first decree regarding the temporary dismissal of Mirwan MS for 3 months,” said Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian at a press conference, Jakarta, Tuesday (9/12).
Tito said Mirwan violated Article 76 paragraph 1 of Law 23/2014 concerning Regional Government.

“Traveling abroad without permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs. It is specifically regulated in Article 77 that the threat of sanctions is temporary dismissal for three months, if the person concerned goes abroad to perform Umrah on December 2,” he said.
Mirwan was in the spotlight because he went on Umrah in the midst of a disaster in his area.Mirwan’s behavior also cannot be separated from the attention of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya previously said Mirwan had undergone an examination by the Inspectorate General (IG) of the Ministry of Home Affairs after arriving in Jakarta from Saudi Arabia.
“Well, now that’s the case, is it true that the Umrah pilgrimage, with whom, where the funding comes from is important,” said Bima at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Monday (8/12).
He said that investigations were also carried out not only on the Regent of Mirwan, but also on all related parties, as was the case with the Regent of Indramayu, whose regional secretary was also investigated.
He said that the inspection was carried out based on Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government.In these regulations, the sanctions given can be in the form of a reprimand, warning, temporary dismissal, or permanent dismissal.
If the dismissal sanction is still given, the Ministry of Home Affairs will convey this to the Supreme Court.
“Perhaps the inspectorate could even recommend permanent dismissal which would then be submitted to the Supreme Court once that is the door, so let’s wait for the results of the investigation into the Regent of South Aceh,” said Bima.
In the aftermath of all this, Mirwan apologized for his behavior that attracted attention.
He promised to continue to be responsible.Mirwan also admitted that he would work hard to restore public trust.
“With all humility, I would like to express my deepest apologies for the inconvenience, anxiety and disappointment of many parties, especially to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, H Prabowo Subianto, and the Minister of Home Affairs, H Tito Karnavian, as well as the Governor of Aceh, H Muzakir Manaf, and also to all levels of Indonesian society, the people of Aceh and the people of South Aceh Regency,” said Mirwan in a statement posted on his social media account, Tuesday (9/12).
