Meanwhile, the Bank Indonesia (BI) Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) reference rate put the rupiah at IDR 16,677 per US dollar in trading this afternoon.

Asian currencies vary.The Chinese yuan rose 0.02 percent, the Singapore dollar fell 0.05 percent, the Philippine peso weakened 0.44 percent, the Malaysian ringgit minus 0.18 percent, the South Korean won rose 0.06 percent, the Japanese yen fell 0.21 percent, and the Thai baht rose 0.06 percent.
Developed country currencies also vary.The British pound sterling rose 0.05 percent, the European euro minus 0.02 percent, the Swiss franc rose 0.04 percent, the Canadian dollar was stagnant, the Australian dollar strengthened 0.24 percent.
Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong said the rupiah managed to strengthen against the US dollar after a survey of Indonesian consumer confidence rose higher than expected.
