Fire
hit the Terra Drone Building located in Cempaka Baru,
Kemayoran
, Central Jakarta (Jakpus) on Tuesday (9/12) afternoon.
Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro said the fire allegedly started from a battery on the 1st floor of the building.
“At around 12.30 there was a battery on the 1st floor, that was the one that caught fire. Then it was extinguished by employees, then it turned out that the burning battery spread because on the 1st floor this is one of the warehouses,” Susatyo told reporters.

At the time of the incident, employees were on their lunch break.Some employees were said to be outside, while others went up to floors two to six to rest.
“Then when it caught fire, the fire got bigger, then the smoke rose to the sixth floor,” said Susatyo.
To date, there have been 20 recorded deaths who have been successfully evacuated.Firefighters (damkar) are still continuing to search for other possible victims.
“Currently sweeping is still being carried out, floor by floor, the fire brigade team is still working. Hopefully we will soon be able to find out about the victims, because there are quite a lot of employees in this shop,” said Susatyo.
