died in a car bomb explosion south of the capital Moscow on Monday (22/12) local time.
The Russian Investigative Committee said the incident killed Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, head of the training department under the General Staff.

The committee said an investigation into Sarvarov’s “murder” had now been opened.
Russia believes the incident is related to an operation by “Ukrainian special forces”, AFP reported.
Reporting from Ukrainian media UNN, Sarvarov died after the car he was driving exploded.An explosive device was found right under his car.
According to one Russian media report, Sarvarov’s car exploded seconds after driving.
This incident occurred in the courtyard of one of the residential complexes in Moscow.
