The majority of Asian currencies fell.The Philippine peso fell 0.06 percent, the Japanese yen fell 0.27 percent, the Malaysian ringgit fell 0.21 percent, the Singapore dollar minus 0.15 percent, the South Korean won minus 0.41 percent, and the Thai baht fell 0.10 percent.
Meanwhile, the main currencies of developed countries varied.The European euro was plus 0.10 percent, the Swiss franc fell 0.04 percent, the Australian dollar fell 0.29 percent, and the Canadian dollar fell 0.03 percent.
Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong said the rupiah strengthened against the US dollar amid risk-on sentiment.
“Bank Indonesia’s steps to maintain interest rates and a large surplus in the current account balance also support sentiment,” he said
