Meanwhile, the Bank Indonesia (BI) Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) reference rate put the rupiah at IDR 16,652 per US dollar in trading this afternoon.

Asian currencies vary.The Chinese yuan rose 0.02 percent, the Singapore dollar rose 0.09 percent, the Philippine peso weakened 0.13 percent, the Malaysian ringgit minus 0.18 percent, the South Korean won rose 0.36 percent, the Japanese yen fell 0.06 percent, and the Thai baht rose 0.03 percent.
In developed countries, exchange rate movements also vary.The British pound fell 0.02 percent, the European euro minus 0.05 percent, the Swiss franc rose 0.04 percent, the Canadian dollar was stagnant, the Australian dollar strengthened 0.06 percent.
Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong said the rupiah closed stronger against the US dollar which weakened sharply after disappointing jobs data.The rupiah was also supported by several strong domestic economic data this week, such as retail sales and consumer confidence.
“Apart from that, investors also believe that BI will maintain interest rates next week,” said Lukman
