Mirwan MS carried out the Umrah pilgrimage in the midst of floods and landslides that hit 11 sub-districts in his area.
Previously, Mirwan MS had issued a letter of inability to handle flood and landslide emergency response.
The letter was published by Mirwan on Thursday (27/11) with number 360/1315/2025.Five days after that, on Tuesday (2/12), Mirwan actually went for Umrah with his family while there were still residents in the Trumon area taking refuge in refugee camps.

A resident of South Aceh, Nasrol, said that even though the flood waters have receded, there are still residents who have fled to this day.
“The water has receded. But there are still refugees, although not as many as at the beginning,” Nasrol told reporters, Friday (5/12).
Mirwan’s actions have drawn criticism from residents because Aceh is currently experiencing a hydrometeorological disaster emergency.
Head of Protocol and Communications for the South Aceh Leadership, Denny Saputra, confirmed that the Regent of South Aceh was leaving for Umrah. His party reasoned that Mirwan left after seeing that the condition of South Aceh had improved from the flood disaster.
“The departure of the Regent of South Aceh and his wife for the Umrah pilgrimage to the holy land was of course after seeing the situation and condition of the South Aceh region which was generally stable, especially the water flow which had receded in residential areas in the Bakongan Raya and Trumon Raya areas,” said Denny when confirmed.
He also denied that the Regent of South Aceh had abandoned the people in the midst of the disaster, because previously Mirwan had also visited and sent aid to residents affected by the flood.
“Before leaving, the Regent and his wife visited and visited several affected locations several times, such as the Trumon Raya and Bakongan Raya areas, and even went directly to deliver logistics to the affected areas,” he said.
