“There were suspicions of a bomb-like object at ITC Kosambi, finally we contacted Brimob, Gegana, to carry out checks,” said Budi.
After the report was received, the Bandung Police immediately secured the location by installing a police line around the place where the object was found. This step was taken to ensure the safety of the public and shop visitors around the location.
“The police line was immediately carried out by the Bandung Police, and the Brimob immediately checked the suspicious items,” he said.
The results of the examination showed that the object that had caused panic was not dangerous.Based on an examination by the Brimob and Gegana teams, the contents of the object were only wooden sticks.
“It turns out that the contents were wooden sticks. So it wasn’t a dangerous item and wasn’t an explosive,” stressed Budi.
However, the police will still take over handling the case. This is done to reveal who the party who placed the suspicious object was and what the motive behind their actions was.
“After this we immediately took it over, because it was not a dangerous item. We will carry out an investigation of the crime scene, examine witnesses, so that we know who put the item in the shophouse,” he explained.
Regarding the cross marks found on church buildings around the location, Budi Sartono said the police were still investigating the possibility of a connection with the discovery of the suspicious object.
“Later we will investigate whether these signs are related to the items placed in the shophouse. We are still investigating, we will see from the results of the inspection,” he said.
In the investigation process, the Bandung Police also involved a number of supporting units, including the detective function and elements from the West Java Regional Police.
“What is certain is that from the police, assisted by the Regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit and Brimob, we will look for as many witnesses and evidence as possible. There is quite a lot of activity in this shophouse, so we will start by looking for witnesses first,” said Budi.
He hopes that, with the investigation carried out, the perpetrator who placed the suspicious object can soon be found, including revealing the motive behind his actions.
Apart from that, Budi Sartono also emphasized that the police had thickened security ahead of the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) celebrations, especially at places of worship and busy centers.
“For places of worship, especially during Operation Nataru, we have placed security posts and service posts. At the shophouses around here, we will also tighten security together with the TNI, Polri and community leaders,” he said.
He ensured that all religious activities and community activities would receive maximum security from the authorities.
