“The President wants the Minister of Public Works [Dody Hanggodo] to ensure that all refugees receive these needs,” continued Cabinet Secretary Teddy.
Temporary shelter for refugees
He explained that at the meeting, Prabowo also ordered his ministers to speed up the construction of temporary shelters (huntara) and permanent shelters (huntap) for refugees so that they no longer need to occupy refugee camps.
“The President wants the President to complete the construction of temporary and permanent housing for all residents affected by the disaster in Sumatra as quickly as possible,” said Teddy.
Preparations for the Christmas holiday
In the same meeting, President Prabowo also gave instructions to ministers regarding the government’s readiness for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
“Regarding preparation for the year-end holidays, we discussed: Developments in the stability of food security and prices of basic necessities. Apart from that, the latest economic developments in the country, including customs and taxes,” said Teddy.
Then, towards the end of the year, Prabowo also ordered the provision of incentives for several sectors.
“Providing incentives to several sectors to ensure smooth year-end holidays, especially significant price reductions for toll road rates, airplane tickets, trains, ships and other public facilities,” said Teddy, explaining the contents of the limited meeting chaired by the president regarding government policy towards the end of the year.
