Pigai said Indonesia must become a world leader in terms of human rights.According to him, this can be started by strengthening domestic human rights.
“What is damaged, we recover, repair. What is good, we maintain, maintain. What is not there, we build. In the next five years we will accelerate to 2034. In the next five years, we will influence the region. Only in the last five years, we have been leading at the world level,” he said, as quoted from

.
Pigai said that becoming a global leader cannot be half-hearted.According to him, this step could be started by making Indonesia president of the UN Human Rights Council.
He feels that this position is important so that Indonesia can initiate human rights policies that do not yet exist, such as those related to corruption, the environment, elections and development.
“If the leadership of the UN Human Rights Council is in the hands of the sons of the Indonesian nation, he will tap and change the world order. For sure. So, don’t wait for 2045 to lead the world, today we start, we must build a (better) civilization,” said Pigai.
Pigai said he had discussed the issue of the presidency of the UN Human Rights Council with friendly countries, including when he visited Cambodia and Laos, as well as when Deputy Minister of Human Rights Mugiyanto visited Australia.
“I declare that it is time for Indonesia to lead the world. Because of what? We, the human rights community, if the president of the UN Human Rights Council had the leadership stick in our hands, we would produce many conventions,” he concluded.
