Pasuruan Flood: 8 Villages in Winongan Affected, Traffic Diverted

due to the overflowing of the Rejoso River which was triggered by heavy rain.
Head of BPBD Pasuruan Regency, Sugeng Hariyadi, said that there were eight villages in Winongan District that were flooded due to high water discharge.
“There are 8 villages in Winongan District that are currently flooded,” said Sugeng, Thursday (4/12).

The eight villages are Winongan Kidul, Bandaran, Winongan Lor, Sruwi, Prodo, Sidepan, Lebak, Mendalan, and Menyarik.Most of the village area is submerged in water at varying heights.
Sugeng detailed that in Winongan Kidul Village, the flood submerged five hamlets with water levels between 20-65 cm.Meanwhile in Bandaran Village, eight hamlets were flooded as high as 20-30 cm.Flooding in Winongan Lor affected two hamlets with a height of around 25 cm, and in Sruwi Village the inundation reached 30 cm.
In Prodo Village, six hamlets were submerged with an average height of 30-40 cm, but one hamlet experienced the worst conditions, reaching 110 cm.Floods also hit one hamlet in Sidepan, two hamlets in Lebak Village, two hamlets in Mendalan, and three hamlets in Menyarik Village with a height of 40-60 cm.
Sugeng explained that the data collected by BPBD is still temporary because the data collection and assessment process is still ongoing in the field.
As a result of the river overflowing, hundreds of families were affected and residents’ activities were paralyzed, especially in villages that experienced high inundation.
Winongan Police Chief, AKP Nanang Abidin, said that the flood this time was a flood sent from the upstream area which often occurs during the rainy season.
“We are coordinating with BPBD to evacuate residents if necessary. For now it is still safe and under control,” said Nanang.
The regional government together with local officials are still on standby to carry out further treatment and ensure that affected residents receive the necessary assistance.
The north coast route has been diverted
Meanwhile, Jalan Raya Ir Juanda on the north coast of Pasuruan City was flooded due to the overflowing Petung River.Officers diverted vehicles from both directions.
Flooding began on the road and the Buk Wedi Bridge since Thursday (4/12) at 18.30 WIB.As time goes on, the water gets higher.The water level currently reaches 20 centimeters.
Police officers and the Transportation Department decided to close the route in both directions, namely towards Surabaya and towards Probolinggo.Vehicles were diverted to the South Ring Route (JLS).
“From the direction of Surabaya, everyone was diverted to the south towards Simpang Empat Prutrejo to the east via JLS. From the east or Probolinggo direction they were also diverted to JLS,” said Head of the South Kalimantan Traffic Unit for the Pasuruan City Police, Aipda Setiyo Budi.
Traffic diversion applies to all vehicles.However, there were several two-wheeled vehicles who were determined to break through the flood.
