“Therefore, the monitoring budget for the implementation of these payments has been increased. There is no point whatever the figure is if it is not paid to workers,” said Iqbal in an official statement in Mataram, Monday (22/12).
Apart from supervision, the NTB Provincial Government is also preparing social protection support for workers.Iqbal said that the regional government had allocated a budget for BPJS Employment payments for around 13 thousand workers.
The NTB Provincial Government is also preparing interventions for prospective workers graduating from vocational schools, in the form of funding training for around 1,000 Vocational High School (SMK) students.
Iqbal added that the determination of the 2026 UMP amount was the result of a joint agreement between the regional government, employers’ associations and labor unions.
This process is carried out by considering the capabilities of the business world and economic dynamics, while at the same time accommodating the interests of the parties in accordance with applicable regulations.
Meanwhile, the Central Leadership Council of the Confederation of All Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPSI) said that violations were still being found in the implementation of UMP payments.Chairman of the KSPSI DPP Yustinus Habur said strengthening supervision was an important step to ensure workers’ rights were fulfilled.
“KSPSI supports the provincial government’s steps to strengthen supervision so that workers’ rights are fulfilled because the legal sanctions are clearly civil and criminal,” he said.
From the business side, Deputy Chair of the Central Leadership Council of the Indonesian Employers’ Association (Apindo) I Gusti Lanang Patra assessed that the agreement on the size of the 2026 NTB UMP had been accepted by the parties. He said that economic growth and the investment climate remain important factors that need to be considered together.
“We all hope that investment in all sectors can absorb labor and improve economic growth next year,” he said.
