Since futsal was competed in 2007, the men’s futsal gold medal has never changed hands from Thailand.Whether it was using the final or round robin format, Thailand was always the best in the five events.
However, Thailand’s dominance can now be broken by Indonesia.Hector Souto’s men managed to beat Thailand in the deciding match to secure the gold medal.
This result is an impressive achievement. This is because the National Futsal Team managed to win the title for the first time during its participation in the SEA Games.
Previously, the National Futsal Team was recorded as having won bronze medals three times at the 2007, 2011 and 2013 SEA Games. They then won a silver medal at the 2021 SEA Games after losing to Thailand.
