Governor of Aceh
Muzakir Manaf is concerned about the condition of disaster evacuees
floods and landslides
in areas that are still isolated.
Moreover, the number of deaths continues to fall due to the slow distribution of logistics to areas that are still difficult to reach.
“The condition of the refugees is very worrying, they died not because of the flood but because of hunger. The condition is very worrying,” said Mualem to journalists after touring Aceh monitoring disaster-affected areas, Friday (5/12).
Mualem said the most urgent areas currently are in the interior of North Aceh, Aceh Tamiang, East Aceh and Central Aceh districts.
Several areas in these areas have not received any logistical assistance at all.He hopes that the government or related parties will specialize in aid to this area so that it does not accumulate in just one area.
Moreover, the current logistics quota is sufficient if distributed evenly among all refugees.
“I don’t know how much (logistics) is needed, what we know is that they need quite a lot of basic necessities and they haven’t been touched, especially in the interior,” he said.
Aceh’s inland areas which are still isolated, such as Aceh Tamiang, North Aceh, East Aceh, Central Aceh and Gayo Lues, are still untouched by logistical assistance because access to these areas is partly only possible by air.
The Aceh government has also urged the center to increase the number of helicopters so that aid distribution can be quickly distributed to inland areas.

Mualem said that the interior of Aceh which was affected by landslides is now in a worrying condition. From the reports he received, there were some who had not received any assistance at all.
“No, not yet (progress on air distribution). Helicopters are not much, they can only carry 1 to 2 tons of aid. We need a Hercules that can carry 5 to 6 tons, because we can supply it to remote areas,” said Mualem.
After a week of traveling around Aceh to monitor areas affected by landslides, many residents reported to him that villages far from the capital city districts had not received logistical assistance.
Apart from logistics, Mualem also emphasized the urgent need for refugee tents and clean water, especially for the areas of Aceh Tamiang, East Aceh and North Aceh which are still isolated.
He said that five units of heavy equipment from Medan had been directed to East Aceh and North Aceh to support opening access.
For this reason, he asked BNPB to prioritize the delivery of tents and clean water in the shortest possible time.According to him, with 41 bridges broken in North Aceh alone, acceleration and more solid coordination are needed so that the distribution of basic necessities that have piled up in the field can immediately move to the affected villages.
“There are a lot of piles of basic necessities due to access and distribution must be accelerated,” he said.
From the update to the Aceh disaster emergency response post, Friday (5/12) at 20:00 WIB, 349 people died and 92 people were missing.
