Meanwhile in Agam Regency, West Sumatra, provision of clean water has been realized in four of the 16 nagari.
“Despite facing difficult terrain obstacles, the Ministry of Forestry remains committed to completing this target to ensure the fulfillment of the community’s basic needs,” he continued.
Ferdian said that the Ministry of Forestry’s Manggala Agni team also carried out post-flood clean-up at a number of points, such as at the Aceh BKSDA Resort Office, Langsa.
Cleaning was also carried out at a number of schools in Tenggulun, Aceh Tamiang.In Tenggulun, the team also distributed clean water supplies to the community.
Meanwhile in West Sumatra, his team also continued cleaning drainage, public facilities and residents’ houses in Nanggalo District, Padang.
Furthermore, in North Sumatra, the Ministry of Forestry team also cleaned residents’ houses in Adian Koting District, North Tapanuli Regency as well as distributing aid.
Ferdian said that this assistance operation is a manifestation of the state’s presence in helping communities affected by disasters as well as a form of synergy between units within the Ministry of Forestry and regional stakeholders.
“From the first day until the 18th day, we deployed Manggala Agni not only for post-flood cleanup, but also to support the community’s basic needs, from providing clean water to logistical assistance,” he said.
Furthermore, Ferdian said, in the future the Ministry of Forestry is committed to taking post-disaster corrective steps through reconstruction of forest areas that have the potential for disasters and rehabilitation of affected areas in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
“In accordance with its duties and authority, the Ministry of Forestry will focus its efforts on reforesting critical land and taking firm action against forest destruction in order to restore ecological function and reduce the risk of similar disasters in the future,” he concluded.
Previously, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the number of victims who died due to floods and landslides in three provinces, Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra increased to 1071 people, Friday (19/12).This figure has increased from the 1,068 people reported on Thursday (18/12).
Meanwhile, the number of refugees decreased, from 537,185 people, to 526,868 people.
Currently, SAR operations are still being carried out in three affected provinces, with details of North Sumatra in four sectors, West Sumatra in five sectors, and Aceh in six districts.
“To date, there are still 27 regencies/cities that are still under extended emergency response status,” he said.
