A Sudanese military transport plane crashed on Tuesday (9/12) while trying to land at an air base in the eastern region of the country.
According to two Sudanese military sources, this incident killed all the crew members.

The Ilyushin Il-76 cargo plane crashed while attempting to land at Osman Digna Air Base in the Red Sea city of Port Sudan, after experiencing “technical problems”.
The Sudanese military has not disclosed the number of personnel on board the plane, and there is no official data on casualties.
The Il-76 is a heavy transport aircraft designed by the Soviet Union and has long been the backbone of Sudan’s military operations.
This type of aircraft is often used to transport logistics and personnel to various battle lines in Sudan.
This incident occurred when Sudan was still hit by one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
Since April 2023, the military and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been caught in a brutal power struggle that has killed tens of thousands of people and forced nearly 12 million others to flee.
Millions of other residents now need humanitarian assistance as fighting continues in various regions.
